Their KM Prinz Eugen, HMS King George V and HMS Repulse are three which spring to my mind - and none of them currently in the Airfix/Hornby range......

The ones that spring to mind are: 1/24 hurricane, 1/24 Stuka, SRN1 Hovercraft, 1/48 Mosquito (perfect shape and proportions). 1/72 Stirling (because it's still the only one!) 1/48 Spit, once again for it's perfect shape and proportions..not detail!
Many of the 1/32 cars, because nobody else did them...where are they now, dammit?
SRN4 Hovercraft..once again, nobody else did it! 1/72 Vulcan, 1/72 Sunderland, same reasons again! Probably many more that my limited knowledge is not aware of!

Oh..and I forgot all those 54mm figures!..and the SAM missile...now lost forever? Then there's the Bloodhound! The 144 Concorde has a lovely shape too.
Also lost forever, 007 DB 5 and Toyota! Not lost, Little Nellie!

Lob in the HP Jetstream, SRN1 and Lunar Module, Saturn 1B and V, (I know some work is needed on these, but what the heck...they're fun). The Airfix Space Shuttle is a much underrated kit, as is the 1/144 Concorde.
The Harrier T10 and GR9 are good kits, as is the MIG29. Lynx is good and the Il-28 is ace!
Then there are the large Classic Sailing Shiips, the Little Nellie Wallis Autogyro, 1/144 Boeing Clipper and HP42.

Nowt wrong with the Fw189, or Bv141 either.

Revell 1/144 Concorde beats the pants off the Airfix one. Harrier T10 is essentially a Heller kit, and do we have a Harrier GR.9 yet? Harrier GR.7's OK, though, and better value than the Hasegawa/ Revell GmbH kit.

Glazing on the FW.189 and BV.141's a bit thick, and the MPM/ Italeri FW.189 is miles better (and not much dearer) than the Airfix kit.

Back to accentuating the positive: Did we mention most of the Multipose figures? Most of the 1/76 softskin trucks, the RAF emergency, refuelling and recovery sets? The Type B/ Old Bill Bus, Dennis Fire Engine and 1/32 tanks? The Museum series of static engines? The 1/600 passenger ships?

Zoo Set 2? Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

The annoying thing, of course, is how few of these Gems date from within the last 20 years....

Cheers,

Chris.

Hmmm..although superb by the standards of its day, by today's standards, the big Bentley's not so hot, and, at full RRP, well overpriced. Sorry.

No need to apologise, I agree about the price, that's why I never bought it! Laughing
Still a good model though. ;-)

I think the above sentence says it all quite frankly, but what gems there are, they need to be protected.

You have to be kidding about the Catalina Chris? It's dreadful!

I got a Canberra recently, that looks nice. Others I would nominate are the Marauder, some of the 1/48 Spitfires, most of the 1/24 stuff, definately the 1/32 cars and the old figure models.

Of course, The Marauder! 1/48 Seafire is lovely, as is the Lightning!

Yes the Cat is dreadful and the rivets/panel lines need rubbing down, there are gaps as wide as the Channel, some of the fit is awful especially the float doors. The wing sections aren't flush and need wrestling with. The all in one moulded cowlings/engines are rubbish, the interior is very basic but whaddya expect from a mould that's over 35 years old? Very Happy I'm just trying to big it up after the slatings I've been giving out lately, just to show I'm a nice guy!

It's a lot of work but you can work with it and make the best of a bad lot. I'm quite taken with the old girl to be honest. Hope I feel the same when I eventually build my Sunderland. Laughing
